Prose. The ordinary form of written or spoken language. It does not make use of the special literary forms of structure, meter, and rhythm that are characteristic of poetry. Proselyte. A convert to a religious faith; in New Testament times it was used especially of a convert to Judaism. Protasis. The subordinate or “if” clause that expresses the condition in a conditional sentence (apodosis).
